Why Would You Cut A Perfectly Good Jeep In Half? To Make It Perfectly Gooder!

Why Would You Cut A Perfectly Good Jeep In Half? To Make It Perfectly Gooder!

Off-road guys are like mini-truckers, in that cutting stuff up doesn’t phase them at all. A little beer drinking and figuring and the cutting apparatus comes out and the fun begins. Knowing that, it will come as no surprise that the Fab Rats decided that in order to put a bigger hard top on their Jeep, it needed to be longer. By about a foot or so. So why not cut it in half, weld in a chunk, and put it back together? It’s easy right?

In truth, it isn’t rocket science on a Jeep, but that doesn’t mean you can’t F it up 14 different ways, so measuring and welding correctly is definitely important. The Fab Rats do a good job, although there were a couple moments where I wondered what the thought process was. In the end, they put together a nice strong extension and get this thing going back together. Of course if you are going to lengthen it anyway, and have to cut the leaf spring hangers off the frame, you might as well link the thing and make it even more bad ass.

This is where the snowball starts rolling. Watch and enjoy, it’s yet another example of something you could be doing in the shop today.
